Wisconin Dells - The Madison Eastside Sharks 8th graders, in a combined effort between the orange and teal teams, claimed the runner-up trophy in the program's inaugural participation in the Midwest Youth Football Championships hosted by Chula Vista Resort in Wisconin Dells.

After an 18-6 winning effort on Saturday against the Milton Mustangs, the Sharks lost a hard fought battle to the Spartans from Brookfield East on Sunday. Playing on short rest, the Sharks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but the hard-hitting Spartans proved too much in the second half, and the Sharks ultimately fell, 22-6.

The tournament marked the first time the Madison Eastside Sharks have sent a team to postseason play, and served as an excellent platform to bring the two teams at the 8th grade level together. During the season, the two teams combined for a 6-8 overall record, and now add the 1-1 mark in postseason play.

Playing at Chula Vista Resort's new facility, the tournament also gave players the opportunity to play indoors on an artificial surface.

Next on tap for these players is the transition to high school football, where former Eastside Sharks players have found much success. The Sharks program is excited to send its next class onto the next level.
